Periodontal treatment can be approached in several ways. Often, your general dentist or hygienist may recommend a consultation with a periodontist if signs of gum disease are detected during a routine checkup or other dental procedures. If you experience any of the following symptoms, we encourage you to schedule an appointment without delay:
The inside of your mouth is normally lined with smooth, coral-pink mucosa. Any changes in its appearance may indicate a pathological condition, including oral cancer. Be alert for the following signs:
These changes can occur on the lips, cheeks, palate, gums, tongue, face, or neck. Pain is not always present with pathology and is often absent in cases of oral cancer. Any unexplained facial or oral pain should also be evaluated. We recommend performing a monthly oral cancer self-examination.
Your mouth is a key indicator of your overall health. Do not ignore suspicious lumps, sores, or changes. Please contact our office so we can assist you promptly.
